7. Couples Resorts

Couples Tower Isle

Couples is one of the most iconic resort chains in Jamaica, with two locations across Ocho Rios, namely Couples Tower Isle and Couples San Souci. Both are Jamaican-owned, adults-only, all-inclusive resorts designed specifically for couples seeking a romantic Caribbean getaway. They’re located only about 10 minutes apart, but the vibe of each resort is slightly different.

  1. Couples Tower Isle is the resort chain’s flagship resort, which means it’s slightly dated but very charming. Couples Tower Isle has a classic resort layout and lively social atmosphere, and has welcomed many celebrities such as esteemed American civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. One of its most unique features is a private offshore island for au naturel sunbathing, accessible by boat from the resort. It also offers catamaran cruises, water sports, and even spa villas that include unlimited spa treatments, which are rare in the Caribbean (read my review here).
  2. Couples Sans Souci, on the other hand, feels more secluded and lush. Built into a hillside with winding pathways and tropical gardens, it has a more tranquil and romantic atmosphere. The resort also has its own au naturel beach area, as well as mineral springs and a grotto pool that add to the relaxing spa-like environment.
Bayside Restaurant at Couples Tower Isle

Both resorts offer excellent service, gourmet dining, and a classic romantic all-inclusive Jamaica experience, so the choice really comes down to whether you prefer a lively resort vibe or a peaceful hideaway. Personally, Couples Tower Isle holds a special place in my heart having stayed there for my engagement moon, and the experience was truly unforgettable— from the warm staff and guest interactions, to sunset dinners by the sea. Above all, I love that Couples prioritizes giving back to Jamaica. Now, to visit the other three hotel locations!

  • Type: adults-only all-inclusive resort
  • All-inclusive: Yes
  • Couples only: Yes

This boutique property features handcrafted villas, lush gardens, and private ocean views, earning it international recognition as a luxury Caribbean retreat. It’s perfect for travelers looking for luxury boutique hotels in Ocho Rios with privacy and charm, and its signature restaurant, Christopher’s, consistently ranks among the best restaurants in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

10. Sandals Resorts

Credit: Sandals Resorts

Sandals, a Jamaican-owned Caribbean resort chain has three locations in Ocho Rios, Jamaica: namely, Sandals Ochi, Sandals Dunn’s River and Sandals Royal Plantation. The trio of hotels are adults-only, all-inclusive resorts designed for couples, but the experience at each resort is quite different.

  1. Sandals Ochi is the largest and most energetic of the three resorts. The property spans a massive area with over 100 pools, numerous restaurants, and lively nightlife, including the famous Rabbit Hole speakeasy bar. Because of its size and social atmosphere, it tends to attract couples who enjoy entertainment, beach parties, and a more vibrant resort experience. It’s also typically the most affordable Sandals resort in Jamaica.
  2. Sandals Dunn’s River is the newest and most modern Sandals resort in Ocho Rios, fully reimagined and reopened with contemporary suites and luxury features like SkyPool and rooftop Rondoval villas. The resort has around 260 rooms and suites, giving it a more intimate feel compared to their expansive Ochi location. Its design is inspired by the nearby Dunn’s River Falls, and the overall vibe is more refined and romantic, with high-end dining and serene spaces for relaxation.
  3. Sandals Royal Plantation is one of the most intimate and elegant all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica, located on a coral bluff overlooking two small private coves in Ocho Rios. Unlike most Sandals properties, this resort is small and boutique-style, with only about 70 suites. The resort has a refined, old-world Caribbean atmosphere, with classic furnishings, manicured gardens, and even roaming peacocks on the grounds.

In short, choose Sandals Ochi if you want a larger resort with nightlife, Sandals Dunn’s River for a newer, luxurious resort and Sandals Royal Plantation for a quiet, more intimate feel. All three resorts include unlimited gourmet dining, premium drinks, water sports, scuba diving, and entertainment as part of the Sandals all-inclusive experience.

  • Best for: ultra-luxury all-inclusive
  • Type: adults-only all-inclusive resort
  • All-inclusive: Yes
  • Couples only: Yes
