Girl jumping with Jamaican flag at Sacsayhuaman

About the Blog

Hi, I’m Elle — a Jamaican doctor, traveler, storyteller, and the voice behind Adventures From Elle. This blog started long before I ever knew travel blogging was a “thing.” Back in 2016, I wasn’t thinking about algorithms or brand deals. I just had a growing camera roll, a heart full of wonder, and a life-changing realization: travel isn’t just for the rich, the retired, or the reckless — it’s possible on almost any budget if you’re willing to plan smart and stay curious.

At the time, I was juggling medical school with a deep desire to see the world beyond textbooks and hospital walls. Travel became my reset button. A weekend away, a new city, a mountain view — these moments reminded me that life is bigger than stress, schedules, and responsibilities. So I started writing. First, as an online diary, then as a travel guide. And eventually, my blog became a resource for people who felt the same quiet tug to explore but didn’t know where to begin.

Since then, travel has taken me across continents, through winding Jamaican mountain roads, into vibrant cities, and to breathtaking natural wonders. I’ve explored places that left me speechless and others that surprised me in ways no brochure ever could. But what matters most to me isn’t just where I’ve gone — it’s how I’ve done it: thoughtfully, affordably, and with room for real-life responsibilities. Because here’s the truth: most of us can’t just quit our jobs and backpack forever. We have careers. Families. Commitments. I’m a physician, which means my schedule is demanding and my time off is precious. That’s exactly why I travel the way I do — maximizing experiences without wasting time or money — and why I share detailed guides to help you do the same.

On Adventures From Elle, you’ll find my favourite excursions, practical itineraries, honest travel tips, budget breakdowns, and lessons learned the hard way (so you don’t have to). I’ll tell you when something is overrated, when it’s absolutely worth the hype, and how to make the most of a destination whether you have three days or two weeks. No sugarcoating. No “luxury-only” fantasy trips. Just real travel for real people. Travel changes how you see the world — and yourself. It builds confidence. It teaches flexibility. It creates stories you’ll tell for the rest of your life, and you realize just how big and beautiful this world really is. If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I could travel more, but…” — you’re exactly who I write for.

Follow me for destination guides, planning tools, and honest inspiration to help you take the trips you’ve been putting off. Your life doesn’t have to be on hold to see the world, so watch me explore my island home, the Caribbean and the entire world! 🌐 Check out my Jamaican travel guide which has a checklist of all the places in Jamaica worth visiting arranged by parish, and MORE! It’s available in both paperback and eBook on Amazon. Also, subscribe for new posts.

  1. Beautiful blog site. We are planning a short cruise out of Galveston this summer with a stop in Jamaica. We are seniors, so a little shopping and sight seeing is our speed – although I’d give a little snorkeling a try again. We both love the water and have heard so much good about your country. The Museum is interesting too.

    1. That’s so lovely to hear! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you’ll find something useful on it for your trip to Jamaica. Our north coast will suit you best if you’re into nature and ecotourism. This can be had in Portland, in and around its capital of Port Antonio. Depending on how long your trip is, you can also check out Ocho Rios and select parts of Kingston. However, many people enter Jamaica through the Sangster’s International Airport which is in Montego Bay and opt to stay there since it’s close to the airport. If you choose that option, I know you’ll have a great time too. Best wishes and happy travels! 🙂
