Cecil Charlton Park, Manchester

Mandeville is one of Jamaica’s more developed towns and is rather peaceful and laid-back compared to Montego Bay and Kingston, Jamaica’s two cities. I’m sure the residents like that a lot since Mandeville and by extension the cool cool parish of Manchester is a popular settlement for Jamaica’s returning residents. Named for former Mayor of Mandeville the late Cecil Charlton, the Cecil Charlton Park is the third urban green space I’m featuring on Adventures from Elle

Empowerment Park, Clarendon

Everyone who has ever taken a trip along the south coast of Jamaica should know the Juici Patties Headquarters along the A2 Highway in Toll Gate. It’s the perfect stop for a bathroom break and grabbing food and drink on the go. However, just behind the restaurant is Empowerment Park, a verdant well-tended space which I’ve never noticed before!

Turtle River Park, Saint Ann

Turtle River Park is a cool oasis in the busy heart of resort town Ocho Rios. This small park is perfect for a picnic, stroll or jog, for reading, watching the fish and turtles in the stream which runs through the grounds and for entertaining bored children on its playground in the heat of the day.
